BET Honors 2010

E-mail Print PDF

Did you watch the BET Honors 2010? If you missed it Whitney Houston was honoured for her 25 Years in the industry, and Kim Burrell one of my favourite gospel singers absolutely shut…the gaff…down.

Kim Burrell serenaded  Whitney – and Ms Houston, in true sista-girl form, literally jumped outta her seat ran up to the stage much like a teenybopper would do at the concert of her favourite boy band.
I’m not usually one to support overly expressive displays of emotion – but this was so amazing to watch, Whitney gave me pure joke and Kim sang her heart out (when doesn’t she?) Her voice is truly anointed, plus Ms Burrell has lost some serious weight and looks fantastic. Two of my favourite singers brought it on home that night and it just made my evening.

As much as I can cuss BET for their over-representation of foolishness, I also have to give credit where credit is due. BET are the only non-Christian TV station who still give it up to JESUS each & every Sunday - and I’m not talking about dedicating a measly couple of hours in the morning - they represent for the better part of the day with shows like Sunday Best, Lift Every Voice, Bobby Jones Gospel, Leading Men/Women, shows which convey the more positive side of the network.

Since Trouble TV disappeared from our screens, BET is the only TV station I can turn to in order to get my fix.
I love my Caucasian cousins (love y’all) but I also need to see my peoples up there on the silver screen depicted in a positive light and BET provide that flavourful fix that I require at least a couple of times per week.

Check out the vid in the top right-hand corner of this page (fast fwd to 3:55 mins for the performance)
